My name is Chris, and for years, my life has been defined by the steady rhythm of the railroad. From my time working the northern lines in North Dakota to my many years pulling yard switching duty right here in Colorado, I’ve learned that durability, precision, and history matter. Spiked Handmades was born from that same grit—a commitment to heavy-duty quality you can see, feel, and smell.

The "Too Much Beer" Breakthrough

About ten years ago, a buddy gifted me a home-brewing kit. Like any railroader, I didn’t do things halfway. Before long, I had a massive surplus of beer. Searching for a creative way to use my brews led me to an unexpected discovery: Cold Process Beer Soap.

I spent the next decade experimenting in the shop, moving from standard plant-based formulas to heavy-duty animal fats, before finally driving the "Golden Spike" of recipes. By engineering a hybrid of organic, grass-fed beef tallow and premium plant oils, I created a provision that is hard, long-lasting, and produces a rich, dense lather that outworks the competition.

The Process: Small Batches, Long Cures

We don’t cut corners on the line. Every batch of Spiked Handmades soap is:

  • Brewed for the Bar: I brew every drop of beer specifically for the soap. It’s low-alcohol and high-hop, engineered specifically to condition the skin.

  • Premium Grade: Formulated with organic coconut oil, olive oil, shea butter, and castor oil to complement the heavy-duty tallow.

  • Naturally Forged: We use the traditional cold-process method and natural colorants, meaning every batch carries its own unique, rugged character.

  • The Patient Cure: Every bar is racked and cured for a minimum of 8 weeks to guarantee you get the hardest, highest-performing bar possible.
